A Family Business Committed to Improving Community Outcomes

The significant impact of the Australian drought and bushfires in 2019/2020, motivated us to develop software to organise all available water and weather data for decision-support in a changing water environment.

Dr Gareth Williams, CEO Co-founder

Gareth has 16 years of civil engineering experience. Throughout his career he has most enjoyed writing code to solve practical engineering problems.

Gareth has a PhD in civil engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia. His research focused on investigating Hunter Water Corporation’s historical monitoring data at the time of large diameter pipe failures. Significant insights into system operations were developed including activities and characteristics of the system that increase the risk of discontinuity of water supply.

Gareth has professional engineering experience in both the public and private sectors while working in Australia and Canada as well as published work by the American Society of Civil Engineers in the Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management.

Dr Brian Williams, CTO Co-founder

Brian has a significant history of modelling and investigation of water and wastewater systems, beginning with a PhD at Melbourne University, titled “Mathematical modelling for the management of waste water systems.” His subsequent experience has involved 40 publications on parameter estimation of rainfall-runoff models, Bayesian network models for water quality decision making, real-time flood forecasting and statistical modelling. Brian has extensive programming experience, and has conducted around 25 consulting projects for Hunter Water, NSW Office of Water, World Bank and others.

Brian taught hydrology, fluid mechanics, civil engineering systems and environmental modelling at the University of Newcastle for almost 30 years. He has written a 700-page book, titled “Hydrobiological modelling.” In recent years Brian has consulted using statistical models to provide an evidence base for water quality decision-making and has taught courses on ‘R’ statistical programming to post-graduate students at Umeå University (Sweden).
